Since October 2025, 28 papers carry an emergency-department, emergency-medical, ambulance or emergency-care keyword (14 in operations research journals, 7 in AI, 6 in economics): "emergency medical services" on 13, "ambulance dispatch" on 6, "emergency department visits" on 3, "emergency department" on 3, "emergency department triage" on 2. The quarter to September 2026 had 8 such papers against about 6 per quarter earlier.

- When ambulances wait outside full emergency departments, how much of the lost response time comes from handover delays rather than from dispatch, and does the dispatch optimization literature model it?
