Cities are restricting vans and funding cargo bikes and micro-hubs. Which combinations cut kilometres and cost, and do couriers and retailers adopt them without mandates?

Since October 2025, 46 papers carry an urban-logistics, urban-freight, urban-delivery, cargo-bike, micro-hub or consolidation keyword (41 in operations research journals): "urban logistics" on 29, "urban freight transport" on 8, "urban delivery" on 6, "cargo bikes" on 2, "urban consolidation centers" on 1. Eight were published in July–September 2026 against about 13 per quarter earlier.

- In cities that restricted delivery vans in central zones, did couriers switch to cargo bikes and micro-hubs, and what happened to delivery cost and times?
