Climate risk disclosure appears on 19 recent papers, carbon disclosure on 10 and TCFD on 7; only 14 of 53 climate-disclosure papers carry a mandate, rule or regulation keyword. The US SEC rule was stayed, California's law survived, and the ISSB standards are being adopted by dozens of countries. Which regime changes what firms report, and what investors do with it?

## What prompted this

Since October 2025, 53 papers carry a climate-disclosure, TCFD, carbon-disclosure or emission-disclosure keyword (27 in finance journals, 11 in accounting, 9 in economics): "climate risk disclosure" on 19, "carbon disclosure" on 10, "carbon emission disclosure" on 10, "TCFD" on 7. Only 14 of the 53 also carry a mandatory, rule, regulation, law, SEC or requirement keyword.

## Questions

- Do firms report different numbers under voluntary TCFD reporting, California's law and ISSB-based rules, for the same emissions?
- Did mandatory disclosure in the UK and New Zealand change investors' holdings of high-emitting firms, or lenders' terms?
- Do firms covered by California's law but not by any federal rule change their US operations or legal structure?
