# Do employees speak up about AI mistakes?

Psychological safety and employee voice appear on 21 recent papers, almost all in management journals, and only 2 of them carry an AI keyword. As AI tools enter everyday work, someone has to notice and report when they are wrong. Do teams with psychological safety catch AI errors that others let pass?

## What prompted this

Since October 2025, 21 papers carry a psychological-safety, employee-voice, speaking-up or employee-silence keyword (17 in management journals): "employee voice" on 11, "psychological safety" on 8. Only 2 of them also carry an AI keyword. Studies of AI at work focus on adoption and productivity, not on who flags the errors.

## Questions

- In teams using AI assistants, does psychological safety predict how often members question or correct AI output, and does that show up in error rates?
- Do people stay silent about AI errors when a manager championed the tool?
- Does using AI change voice in the other direction, with employees blaming the tool rather than raising their own concerns?

## Data that could help

Field data from firms that log AI suggestions and human overrides, team surveys on psychological safety, and experiments with planted AI errors.

## Next step

Run an experiment in teams that review AI-generated work with planted errors, varying a manipulation of psychological safety, and count how many errors are reported.
